Dr. Alan Stanford - Alan@1bc.org

Alan has more than 30 years of experience in the ministry. He has served as the Youth Minister in two churches, Missionary in Liberia, West Africa, Psychiatric Chaplain at Baylor Hospital in Dallas, Senior Pastor of two churches in Texas and three in Virginia, and as an International Denomination Executive. Currently in addition to being the Senior Pastor at Clarendon, he is also the General Secretary of the North American Baptist Fellowships (a network of Canadian and US Baptist groups that represents more than 19 million members) and the Baptist World Alliance's Director of Mission Advancement. Despite Alan's involvement in many different facets of ministry, his first love is the pastorate. "I love helping people discover their gifts and use them. And I love helping churches discover how they can maximize their ministry potential. My greatest desire is to help developed an authentic community of faith that reaches out to make a difference locally and around the world. Alan graduated from high school in the Washington D.C. area, and attended Baylor University and Southwestern Seminary-- where he received his BA, M.Div., and Ph.D. He is a frequent speaker at conferences in the US and around the world-having been involved in ministry in Europe, Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Alan married his college sweetheart, Elaine, and they have two grown children and two grandchildren. When he is not involved in ministry he enjoys sailing, working around the house on home improvement projects, reading, and the movies.
