Happy Anniversary Church at Clarendon!
107 years–a testimony to God’s faithfulness here in Clarendon. In Sunday’s service, we’ll celebrate our anniversary by praising God for all he has done for us and where He is taking us next. Only God could have known that this church that was originally surrounded by cows would one day be surrounded by thousands of people and a metro stop at the corner.
As we survey all God has given us, we realize He has given us all we need to complete our mission–to help people discover and live out their purpose and passion through Christ. Through our diverse community, we recognize that each person has their own set of gifts and calling, but we are united in advancing God’s kingdom.
1 Corinthians 12:4-7: There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work. Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.
Whether it’s helping someone discern a calling to become a missionary, encouraging them to pursue their passion for social justice, or simply supporting them as they try to faithfully fill the role of parent or friend, releasing them to live out their faith wherever they are brings God’s kingdom now on earth.
And there is nothing more powerful, more world-changing, than truly living as if God is Lord.
