Choosing Joy and Spreading Love

It is the first Sunday in May and our preaching theme for the month is joy! Our guest preacher for today's service is Sister Julie Justus Williams. Henri J.M. Nouwen said, "Joy does not simply happen to us. We have to choose joy and keep choosing it every day.” He also said “Love is not passive. It is a verb, a force that requires us to reach out, to serve, and to care for others.” These two important spiritual principles work in tandem and the Lord will help us to display them as we deepen our relationship with Jesus. Be sure to have a blank card or sheet of paper on hand, as we will have an interactive activity during the service today!
